Query on Exposing Dust Agent for Team and Customer Benefits

Hey team, quick question we have this really cool agent that benefits our team but also would for our customers, is there a way to expose a Dust agent via chat but to the outside world? (I could proxy it through the API, just worried about timeout/delay)

Hi Gilles, that's definitely doable, and one of the common use cases of Dust's API 🙂 This is usually achieved by using the conversation endpoint directly, or the javascript SDK In terms of timeout, Dust will cut at 30s in synchronous mode. (setting is called blocking : true) If your agents are taking longer than that to reply, try the asynchronous mode where you can poll dust to get your events. Hope this helps!

Ah great! Thanks for the help. Basically I'd need to rebuild the chat UI and everything. A bit cumbersome but doable indeed 🙂 (FYI I'd pay for embedding an agent—even super basically)
