Hello,
When creating a new Google Drive connection, is it still required to ask the Dust support team to enable .pdf file format indexing on the workspace ?
(as per the documentation: PDF indexing has to be activated on a case by case basis by the Dust team).
Thanks,
Enguerrand
Hi,
Yes it is - one the goals of this is to make sure that you won’t accidentally import all your invoices and thousands of unnecessary documents that can be found in a Drive in a lot of cases
Thanks Alban for your response and promptness.
FYI, this software setting is REALLY disturbing for new Dust’s clients…(at least two customers I’ve recently collaborated with).
The initial reaction of these customers is usually to assume that the Gdrive indexing isn’t working properly => which could be a reason for stopping the early tests of Dust…!
The vast majority of Gdrive users store .pdf documents in their Gdrive (same for users of any Document Management system).
Indeed, there might be invoices, but most .pdf documents are not useless (some are often reference documents).
Not indexing .pdf files (which are a very common format) by default is something really hard to understand for clients who are starting to test Dust.
This is likely a setting that should be adjusted, if feasible… (or, at least, it needs to be more clearly explained within the configuration interface of connections, not merely in the documentation).
Feel free to reach out if needed to talk about it.
Sounds good, I’m forwarding your feedback to the team to see how we can make sure this is clearer for everybody!
